DEBIOTECH AND DELPHI IN PARTNERSHIP
FOR NEW INFUSION DEVICES
LAUSANNE, Switzerland. – DEBIOTECH SA announces license agreement
with Delphi Medical Systems Corporation, a subsidiary of Delphi Corporation
(NYSE: DPH).
The licensing agreement includes rights to manufacture and market
Debiotech’s ambulatory intravenous (IV) pump, its associated
disposables and accessories. The license agreement includes upfront
payments to Debiotech and royalties of an undisclosed amount.
“We are delighted to enter into a close collaboration with
one of the leading technology companies in the world, which has already
contributed to some of the most significant developments in the automotive
industry,” said President and CEO of Debiotech, Frederic Neftel. “This
alliance adds tremendous potential to the medical device industry
and we are extremely pleased to work toward novel therapeutic solutions
in the infusion business together with Delphi Medical Systems”.
Miniature and accurate, the dual battery-operated and AC-powered
portable pump is lightweight, and small enough to be hand-held, making
it ideal for use in homecare and alternate sites.
The pump is designed to be easily clipped onto various accessories,
such as IV poles and wheelchairs. It includes a shoulder strap and
belt-clip for increased mobility, and could play an important role
in hospitals, where it could be utilized for mobile in-patient care.
In addition, the IV Pump includes state of the art remote IT programming
and control capabilities which makes it particularly suitable for
novel telemedicine healthcare.
“We’re excited about this product and the new customer
relationship opportunities it represents for our company,” said
Christophe Sevrain, managing director of Delphi Medical Systems. “We
are pleased to be entering into an agreement with a proven innovator
like Debiotech, with an impressive track record of innovation in
medical devices.”
Having already received clearance from the Food and Drug Administration
(FDA) and in compliance with the European Norm, CE, the patented
pump and intravenous set will strategically add to Delphi Medical
Systems’ product and technology portfolio.
The IV Pump, which is already licensed and approved in Japan, will
continue to be sold by JMS Corporation for the Japanese market.
“Delphi Medical Systems is focused on being a provider of
technology and manufacturing in the areas of dialysis, respiratory
care, mobility, and infusion, of which this electronic pump is a
key element,” Sevrain said. “We anticipate announcing
strategic alliances with medical equipment manufacturers and distributors
to further develop Delphi Medical Systems’ presence in the
medical device market.”
Capable of providing up-to-date technologies in circuit electronics,
sensors, user-interface, wireless technologies, and more to address
challenges in a global market, Delphi Medical Systems will provide
components and complete medical instrumentation to medical equipment
manufacturers and distributors.

All statements contained or incorporated
in this press release which address operating performance, events

or anticipate may occur in the future (including statements relating
to future sales or earnings expectations, volume growth, awarded
sales contracts or statements expressing general optimism about future
operating results) are forward-looking statements within the meaning
of the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995. These statements
are made on the basis of management’s current views and assumptions
with respect to future events. Important factors, risks and uncertainties
which may cause actual results to differ from those expressed in

the achievement of projected levels of royalties and profit margins
over a licensing agreement will depend in part on customer demand
which may be affected by, among other things, uncertainty of product
development and manufacturing, uncertainty about obtaining and maintaining
FDA regulatory clearances and the timing of receiving marketing clearances,
uncertainty relating to third party reimbursement, ability to convince
health care professionals and third party payers of the medical and
economic benefits of the licensed products, changes in general economic
conditions, and changes in our ability to satisfy service, technology,
quality and other requirements. Delphi does not intend or assume
any obligation to update any of these forward-looking
