Fresenius Kabi becomes exclusive distributor for IV Expres pump from Debiotech for Europe and certain Asian countries
(February 3, 2005) |
TROY, Mich., Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Delphi Medical Systems,
a subsidiary of Delphi Corp. (NYSE: DPH), signed an exclusive distribution agreement of
Delphi's IVantage infusion pumps with Fresenius Kabi, a subsidiary of Fresenius AG.
"We are delighted to be working with a world-class company
such as Fresenius Kabi," said Christophe Sevrain, managing director of Delphi Medical Systems.
"We also have a joint plan to add Delphi technologies to such devices in the future."
A Germany-based original equipment manufacturer, Fresenius
Kabi will exclusively sell Delphi's IVantage, an ambulatory intravenous pump, its
accessories, and associated disposables in the following countries: All the European
Economic Community member countries, Norway, Switzerland, Turkey, South Africa, Australia,
China, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
Delphi's IVantage will bear that name as well as the
Fresenius Kabi brand. Miniature and accurate, the dual battery-operated and AC-powered
portable pump is lightweight and small enough to be hand-held, making it ideal for use in
homecare and alternate sites.
The pump is designed so it can be easily clipped onto
various accessories, such as IV poles and wheelchairs. It includes a shoulder strap and
belt-clip for increased mobility, and could play an important role in hospitals, where
it could be utilized for mobile in-patient care.
"Delphi Medical is the only supplier of the Delphi IVantage,
the most competitive ambulatory pump on the market today," said Matthias Mueller, executive
vice president of Fresenius Kabi. "As a leader in the development, production and distribution
of infusion therapy products, we are excited about this distribution venture with Delphi
Medical."
Delphi Medical Systems manufactures respiratory care
devices, dialysis machines, vision-testing equipment, vital signs monitoring devices,
and other medical devices.
Delphi Medical is also currently co-developing software
with Caretools that will enable short- and long-range digital communication between a hand-held
personal desk assistant or a PC with medical devices such as the IVantage pump, to enable
monitoring of devices such as other I.V. pumps, vital signs monitors and respiratory monitors.
Delphi Medical Systems is focusing on supplying OEMs and
distributors the latest product technology as well as integrated solutions in medical devices.
"By providing a complete product, Delphi Medical can help OEMs shorten the lead time between
product development and market availability," Sevrain said.
