DEBIOTECH secures worldwide supply agreement for auto-inserted cannula to be used with the JewelPUMP

Debiotech SA, Lausanne, Switzerland, has secured a worldwide supply agreement for an automatic inserted soft-cannula infusion set to be used with the JewelPump™ on diabetic patients. Terms of the agreement are not disclosed.

"Soon every patient will be able to use one of the easiest and best tolerated soft-cannula in the market directly in connection with the JewelPUMP™."

"The highly miniaturized JewelPUMP™, which contains 5ml of insulin for 7 days' use, is directly attachable without tubing to the auto-inserted cannula from which it can be detached and re-attached at will." says Stephane Proennecke, PhD, JewelPUMP™ Project Leader at DEBIOTECH. "This offers the opportunity to change the cannula every 3 days without having to change or refill the pump, thereby offering more freedom to the patient. The soft-cannula is available in 6mm and 9mm length, to satisfy various patient needs. Unlike current pumps, thanks to a very precise integrated sensor inside the unique MEMS pump chip, any occlusion on the cannula side will be detected almost instantaneously to prevent insulin under dosage."

The JewelPUMP will be presented at ATTD in Paris, from February 28th to March 2nd 2013.
